Une nouvelle histoire..Le Welsh Corgi Pembroke
The Welsh Corgi Pembroke is a sheepdog, although small, with the appearance of a small red fox. It is best known for having been the favorite breed for many years of the Queen of England who was particularly fond of them for their sociable and playful character.
Welsh Corgi Pembroke: its origins and history
The Welsh Corgi Pembroke is a dog originating from Wales. The word "Corgi" actually comes from the Welsh "Cur ci", or "Cor ci", which means "dwarf dog".
Maggie comes from a very good lineage, she is tested for diseases that affect the breed, and we strive to produce puppies free of defects by always mating her with a male free of all the defects of the breed with also a good pedigree which guarantees the stability of the frame and good characteristics.
Our puppies are well socialized, raised in a family with children and other dogs.
The origins of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke are said to date back to the 10th century. It has spitz origins, but it is not known exactly whether this breed descends from the Swedish Vallhund or from the ancestors of today's Schipperkes and Miniature Spitz. In any case, it would have descended from the Flemish weaver dogs of Wales.
He is the favorite dog of Queen Elizabeth II who has owned about thirty in total. Her first corgi was given to her when she was 18 in 1944, his name was Susan. Her last two corgis given to her by her son Andrew Muick and Sandy became orphans after her death in September 2022 and taken in by this same son.
In 1934, the English Kennel Club recognized the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. It distinguished it from the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which was heavier and larger than its close cousin. It was also distinguished by its larger, more rounded ears.
Its official standard in force was established by the SCC (Société Centrale Canine) in November 2010. It is a dog that is still not very widespread in France.
According to the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) nomenclature, the Welsh Corgi Pembroke belongs to Group 1, shepherd and cattle dogs (except Swiss cattle dogs) Section 1 Sheepdogs - Without working trial.
